I may have taken care of the phone situation (after a week being phoneless). But then last night, my computer just shut itself down and refuses to boot back up. Yes, I’ve tried everything. No boot-up disk, since I couldn’t get all the OS info on 12 discs and gave up.
My son has a laptop that he will share with me until I can replace mine, and *it* screwed up on me today! Luckily, I was able to fix the problems with it – after several hours.
Geez, I am so sick of expensive problems coming up just one right after the other. I still have plumbing problems to get fixed. Right now it’s just leaky pipes as far as I can tell, since the toilets were fixed a while back. Oh, and we need to basically gut the master bath & rebuild.
This should be interesting!
I am worried. But…..I’ll just keep plodding along. It’s all I can do, really.
It feels like forever and ever since I’ve been on here, though in reality? It’s only been a week. It’s all good, as I really have nothing to say these days. I’m working a lot of days….not necessarily a lot of hours, due to my new availability. But I’m doing what I can, and most of my free time is spent trying to get caught up on housework and/or trying to wind down so I won’t be too much of a zombie the next time I need to get stuff done.
Last week, in its entirety, was just one big mishap. First, I either lost my phone, or it was stolen. Really, I’ve been way, WAY off my game here lately, so either scenario is just as likely as the other. Then later in the week when I was trying to insert some code here, I lost all my sidebar widgets except for the WP-specific ones. I don’t mean they just got knocked to the bottom of the widgets page, I mean they were obliterated altogether. Well…I’m working on those.
After starting off this week on three hours’ sleep, I am still rollin’ with the punches.
I’ve put a playlist post up before, but this was the first post in which I actually reviewed a bit of music by an artist with whom I was unfamiliar. Rain Perry’s type of music isn’t usually my particular cup o’ tea, but with a voice somewhere between Sheryl Crow and Alison Krauss and easily relate-able songs, she’s now a “must listen”. I hope some of you will get a chance to go over and read. And if you like, you can even leave a comment to be entered to win another of our awesome Music Mama giveaways
Now I’m off to try to restore my sidebar content, and visit all your lovely blogs! It’s been far, far too long since I had a day to get caught up on the things I love, instead of just the things I must do.

with their dishonesty, lack of respect, and general suckiness. The only thing that really surprises me at this point is that such behavior continues to surprise me. Why?
I recently had a situation where I had to get someone in trouble for being incredibly disrespectful, and I recently had a situation in the car line at school where I was forced by a traffic-directing teacher to get into a lane I did not need to be in, then when it came time for me to get back into the lane I needed to be in, the people in that lane all refused to let me over.
Those are just everyday annoyances compared to this weekend’s situation, though, when I either lost, or someone took my phone at work. I don’t put it past me to have spaced and thrown it out with my trash, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t do that. If you remember the last time I accidentally tossed a phone into a garbage can, I realized immediately what I had done. So, I tend to think I must have tried dropping it in my purse, but it either fell out or I missed my mark without noticing, and someone later took it.
While personal items being left out is neglectful and maybe in some cases, stupid, that still does not give someone the right to just pick up another person’s belongings and TAKE them.
I have a feeling whoever took it might have been looking for sessy pictures or embarrassing texts or something. Why else would you snatch a four year out-of-date phone? Well, joke’s on you, asshole. Hope you enjoyed my pics of my dogs and the interiors of my cars from every angle. And generally the only people I text are my kids, so there was nothing interesting there.
So…I have been without a phone Since Sunday, when I immediately suspended that number upon getting home and confirming that no calls or texts had been made from it. I had been debating for a good two months over whether or not to even continue with Verizon’s service, since all the phones I liked required an expensive data package and all the cheap phones required a change to my plan.
So this little situation? It finally forced my hand; made the decision for me. Joke’s on you AGAIN, asshole! I have no choice now but to get a better phone.
I decided to get a phone with all the features I want and then some, with a prepaid plan. I just hope I won’t be sacrificing Verizon’s reliability, which I have no issue with. I will have a new number, but it will probably be another day or so before I can get my phone. Since I wasn’t expecting to have to dish out this kind of money right now, naturally, I didn’t just have it on hand.
So, if you want me to have your number again, please email it to me!
Yep, I’m still around, though the hectic pace of life these days is brutally whipping my butt! It goes a little something like this: the boys are back in school, and waiting on me to resolve some issues with getting Danny’s car registered so he can park it on campus – and therefore drive himself and Joe to school and back (hopefully this will be fixed tomorrow when I have the day off!). Due to my work schedule not being back to days till next week, I am still working nights. When I work nights, I can not get settled down for sleep until usually about 3AM. Then I’m back up with the kids at 6, getting them off to school, and once I get back here, I crash within an hour or so. Once I fall asleep, I’m usually out until it’s time to wake up, get ready for work, get supper for the night fixed, get the kids home from school, and get to work.
So at this point in time, I haven’t done much blog reading or writing. I come home to piles and piles of laundry which have multiplied, then exploded all over the place, and then the smaller piles have multiplied and exploded all over the place. Same with dishes; and there is always an overflow of trash to be taken out.
It’s just as well, I guess, because every morning I open up my WP dashboard and sit and stare at it for a few moments before giving up and giving in to some much-needed sleep. Truth is, I really struggle with what to write over here these days. There is a lot going on personally, but that isn’t something I feel comfortable sharing here as I have a lot of stuff to sort through and work out. I’m still working towards the SITS/ProBlogger challenges, though. Even though the 31 days is over, I am only halfway through due to work, school, and out-of-state family visits. And said personal issues.
However, I do have writing opportunities elsewhere, and they will allow me to take my mind off the writer’s block I seem to have here. I will definitely be updating this site still, and hopefully a little more regularly in the future. But I’m also hoping that writing and interacting elsewhere will inspire me to do better here.
And with that, I’m off to try nap. I feel like I spend way too much of my time in a sleep-deprived fog these days, and that is really messing with me in a number of ways!
The boys’ first day back at school was yesterday. This meant that my sons came home with the usual stack of paperwork to be filled out, signed, and returned. Among the paperwork for my oldest was his Art II syllabus, which he then ‘customized’ with a pencil. Out of boredom, no doubt! But how appropriate that he added some artistry to the Art II syllabus…..
I’ve actually been back since Sunday evening, but it’s been whirlwind crazy here. Sunday evening was all about decompression, rest, and True Blood! Monday was spent getting the oldest to the orthodontist, then to Rue 21 for a bit of back-to-school shopping. I never realized that store was so cheap! And yesterday, I was working. Then grocery shopping. Then picking my youngest up from a friend’s.
So….Bibi was a pleasure to drive to Mississippi and back. It did remind me of some mods I need to get on ASAP, though. I had already decided to get my windows tinted, as they are basically clear and I really don’t want my plastic, rubber, and leather to dry out and crack! (I have no garage or carport) Yes, I know you can Armor All your car. But where I live, that would have to be done every other day to really keep it protected, and I am just not willing to do that more than once a week. Besides that, with tinted windows, I’ll get less harmful UV rays, AND it will keep the car cooler.
I’m also getting this Bug Dash model for the dash. And at some time down the road, I’d like to replace the stock headlamps with HiD headlights. But maybe I should put some of those on the Mustang if we decide to restore and rebuild it. The Bug’s headlights are like floodlights compared to the Mustang’s…
So, all in all a good trip. Very good. Slightly longer than usual, but still way too short. I didn’t get to see any friends, and still barely managed to see my Dad. But I am so thankful I got to see my Mom, Aunt, and my Mawmaw!
I miss the place so much, and really would like to be able to move back one of these days.
I have lots of catching up to do! I’m working tonight, so working on the house today. I have a CD to review for The Music Mamas. And I still want to get caught up on the SITS/ProBlogger challenge. I’m behind by about a week now!
So when I finally do get to sleep tonight (err, tomorrow!), I totally expect to be comatose for about ten hours. Thank goodness I took my stress formula vitamins this morning! Still haven’t packed yet. My clothes are in the dryer, and I can’t throw my makeup & hair stuff in till the very last minute. So for now, I’m just charging my Zune & Kindle, updating playlists, and gathering what I can. Here soon, it will be time to pack the car. Yay!
I am so excited about visiting my family, and my boys coming back home!
Listening to: Todd Rundgren - Bang on the Drum All Day
I didn’t even know it, but Season 8 premieres tonight! Of course, I will be at work. Then I’ll be away all weekend visiting family out of state. But that’s okay, I’ve got my dvr ready and I’m really hoping it doesn’t fail me.
Is anyone else watching?
And in other news, the oldest isn’t coming home with his car after all, so I’ve got to scramble to get my work schedule changed to accommodate their school schedule for a few weeks. GAH!
I used to love you and your loaded potato bites with a nearly unrivaled passion, but here lately? You disappoint me. You disappoint me so much, in fact, that I am breaking things off with you (at least until I get an insane craving for potato bites once more!). I could overlook the fact that you helped make me need Phentermine 37.5 because of all your high-fat, high-calorie goodness. But I can not overlook the fact that you keep getting my orders wrong.
After the first time, I forgave you, but was careful this last time to make sure you didn’t give my delicious loaded potato bites to one of your many other side pieces! The only problem with that is that late at night, after a particularly tiring and stressful evening at work, your Jalapeno poppers look exactly the same in the semi-dark.
I understand mistakes happen – I make them all the time! – but geez. I am tired of you making mistakes constantly with me. I have no choice but to ditch you in favor of someone who cares enough about me to make me happy.
